Eating Cookie

If I had unlimited resources, I'd rent a ballroom at the Four Seasons and throw a party in Sommer's honor. I'd babble a bit on the bandstand, flushed with champagne, and then hand the microphone to Craig Sorensen, who would say:

Sommer Marsden has one of those identifiable styles that you know who wrote the story as soon as you start to read it. That said, she can work with a range of emotions and subjects with authority. She covers a lot of creative ground, but still retains that unique, very personal, very lively style. One of my favorite stories is "Eating Cookie", which was one of the first stories of hers that I read. What I fell in love with in "Eating Cookie" was Sommer's sense of humor. Cookie came to life for me, and the fact that the subject behind the story was such a commonplace, day to day thing as a bake sale, just illustrated her skill at story telling. And the thing that perhaps I loved the most was that I could see Sommer in the character she created. Sommer does a beautiful job of breathing life into her characters, but in "Eating Cookie," I got to know Sommer better as a person. And I liked what I saw.

I still do.

Then we'd all giggle like teenagers and go to see a midnight showing of Rocky Horror.

If you want to read "Eating Cookie," check out Sommer's blog!

XXX,
Alison

Hear, hear, Craig! I think you've captured so much about the personality of Sommer's fabulous work.

And it's good to know that if we make that road trip to Maryland, we can just follow the smell of Cookie—er, I mean of cookies, rather than relying on a map.

I fuckig love cookies! And that is one of my favorite tees ever. I always promise myself I will buy it soon. Thank you, Craig. And thx, J! I had no idea AT was doing this kind of thing. She is sneaky, no? I did not expect such nice stuff from such nice people.

I love Cookie because I have *been* Cookie. Last minute deadlines, meanie moms, school craziness, and an awesome husband. As for the counter scene etc. No comment, no comment, no comment. ;)
